Visa for China (Chinese visa)

To obtain a visa for China in Bishkek it is necessary to have an invitation.  It is possible to ask our partners in China to arrange this.   They tell us that they can only arrange an invitation for a one month, single entry, tourist visa.   It can normally be arranged by the next working day ... although it is probably best to plan on an extra day or two - just in case there are "unexpected" holidays or communication problems.

The embassy is open three mornings a week. 

There will be a queue - although people stand around, not in line, so it is important to know who is in front of you - and who arrives after you.  You could have to stand for the full three hours - so maybe you should take a book and some rainwear if the weather looks as if it could turn bad.  It is necessary for the traveller to apply in person - we are not allowed to do on their behalf. 

In theory the embassy can take a week to issue the visa, but in practice, the visas are usually issued later the same day.

However, people seeking to apply for a visa in Bishkek often find that their travel plans are disrupted.  For example: During the period of the Beijing Olympics, special rules applied, which required that visas were issued in the applicants home country, and other special rules are sometimes applied, (which limit the consul's power to issue visas), which are often connected with circumstances inside China, such as civil disturbances in Tibet or Xingjian.

To apply for the Chinese visa in Bishkek you need:

• the letter of invitation from the reliable Chinese company (original)
• 1 color photo 3 x 4
• In the embassy fill in an application form
