Ruh Ordo

Ruh Ordo (the place of the spirit or spiritual centre from kyrgyz) is a place on the northern shore of lake Issyk-Kul built by one of the most aflluent people of Kyrgyzstan - Mr. Kereksisov in 2002.

This is a cultural center and tourists attraction place that is worth visiting while in Cholpon-ata. Place is 4 acres big - open air museum of both recent and ancient history of Kyrgyz culutre.

As Discovery Kyrgyzstan states - the place "was commissioned ... as a culutral theme park to commemorate and celebrate the historical heritage of the region as a modern -day meeting place for peoples of all nationalities, faiths and culutres".

Current entrance fee (2010) - 300 soms (around 7USD) includes excurcion of a local professional (usually russian speaking however it is possible to arrange English or other languages excursions) guide who tells you everything about each exponent.

Place has five chapels or spiritial places of Buddhism, Russian Orhodox, Islam, Catholisims and Judaism respectfully. Each place inside has set of symbols for each of the religion. Place has a seperate section dedicated to Chingiz Aitmatov, Sayakbai Karalaev, Kurmanjan Datka, Suimonkul Chokmorov, Nursultan Nazarbaev (president of Kazakhstan) and other famous people of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and other countries of the world.

Place also has a room with pictures of all famous people that visited Ruh Ordo. Also, from exursions you will learn many facts about Kyrgyz culture, literature and other interesting things about Kyrgyzstan.
